What's in a badge?
We're glad you asked.
The 1% for India badge is more than a symbol of your commitment — it’s a powerful tool for brand differentiation.
Independent certification is what makes it credible: no business can display the badge without passing annual, third-party verification of their giving.
Certified Impact, Made Simple.
The 1% for India model is simple for businesses, credible for customers, and built to move real money to India’s most urgent needs.
Commit
Commit to giving at least 1% of your annual revenue — not profit — to certified partners working in STEM Education, Food Security, Skill Education, or Poverty & Health.
Give
Give directly to one or more approved partner organisations in the 1% for India network — as cash, or an approved combination of cash and in-kind support, weighted mostly toward cash.
Certify
Submit your donation receipts and revenue documentation each year. We verify it before your badge is issued or renewed — no exceptions.
Amplify
Use the 1% for India badge across your packaging, storefront, and website, and join a network built to make your commitment visible to customers and talent.
One Network. Every State.
The 1% for India network spans founders and companies across the country’s leading business hubs — and every cause that matters to India’s future.
FOOD SECURITY
No child should sit in a classroom too hungry to learn. Our 1% commitment funds meals for thousands of children a year — it’s the most direct impact our company makes outside our own four walls.
“ YVON CHOUINARD, Founder, Patagonia & 1% for India
STEM EDUCATION
We give 1% of our revenue to close the gap in classrooms that don’t have the labs, computers, or teachers our own engineers grew up needing. It’s not charity — it’s how we build the workforce we’ll hire from in ten years.
“ Colleen Croteau, COO of Maine Beer Company
PHARMACEUTICAL
We give 1% for India to help reducing our environmental footprint, this has been a core company value since our founding.
“ Annie Nyborg, Director of Sustainability, Peak Design
POVERTY & HEALTH
Certification matters to us because it’s independently verified, not self-reported. Our customers and our own team both know exactly what our 1% actually funds.
“ Michael J. Comb, Ph.D., Founder and CEO, Cell Signaling Technology
SKILL EDUCATION
We couldn’t hire fast enough until we started funding the skilling pipeline ourselves. 1% for India connects our giving directly to the people who’ll be ready for the jobs we’re creating.
“ Jeff Cresswell and Michelle Kalberer, Co-CEOS, Klean Kanteen

We're Stronger Together.
1% for India membership offers businesses across the country a simple way to fund real impact and build lasting credibility. Let’s talk about how membership can work for you — and for India.
Let’s discuss how membership can work for you, and India.
Why This Matters
India is home to the largest population of school-age children on earth — and some of the widest gaps in nutrition, healthcare, skilling, and access to STEM education anywhere in the world. Closing that gap is bigger than government can fund alone. It will take Indian enterprise, committed at scale, for the long term.

Every certified member is independently verified before they earn the badge — not self-declared, and never assumed.
Our members commit off the top line, every year — profitable or not. It’s calculated the same way payroll is.
STEM Education, Food Security, Skill Education, Women Empowerment and Poverty & Health — every rupee goes to one of these four causes.
Every partner is independently checked for legal registration, financial transparency, and programme alignment before joining the network.

Focus-Area
STEM Education
India produces one of the world’s largest pools of engineering and science graduates, yet foundational STEM learning in government schools is held back by uneven access to labs, computing, and qualified teachers. Certified members fund classroom equipment, teacher training, and computer access for students who’d otherwise never get the chance. The employers who most need a strong STEM pipeline are best placed to fund it — starting now, not after the shortage hits.
